Host KIIT University blanked Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University (PRSU), Raipur, 2-0 in the final to emerge champions in the East Zone Inter-University Tennis Tournament (Women) at KIIT campus here today.
Susmita Jenifer Kullu and Ahona Chakrabarty won the two singles matches for KIIT, defeating Aayushi Chouhan 6-2, 6-2 and Alka Yadav 6-2, 6-0 respectively. VBS Purvanchal University, Jaunpur, finished third in the two-day tournament.
The top three finishers of the East Zone meet qualified for the All-India Inter-University Tournament to be hosted by KIIT University from December 25 to 28.
RESULTS:
KIIT University beat Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University 2-0 (Susmita Jenifer Kullu bt Aayushi Chouhan 6-2, 6-2; Ahona Chakrabarty bt Alka Yadav 6-2, 6-0).
KIIT University beat VBS Purvanchal University 2-0 (Nilanjana Ghosh bt Ranjana 6-0, 6-0; Sanjana Mitra bt Priya Singh 6-0, 6-0).
Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University beat VBS Purvanchal University 2-0 (Aayushi Chouhan bt Roli Upadhyay 6-0, 6-0; Alka Yadav bt Priya Singh 6-0, 6-0).
